10th and 11th Grade PTECH Students...
During this time of year, 10th and 11th-grade students have been actively participating in job shadowing experiences and earning valuable workplace learning hours. These opportunities allow students to visit job sites and engage directly with industry experts, gaining firsthand insights into their fields of interest. So far, students have explored locations such as ODOO, the New York Power Authority, SUNY Niagara Tech Wars, M&T Tech Hub, NFTA, Northland, HDM Hydraulics, Reworld, TAM Ceramics, and more. Many additional visits are planned for the semester, providing students with even greater exposure to real-world careers and industries.
12th Grade PTECH Students
Cohort 1 MET students are actively preparing for their next transition into college and career opportunities. In December, a representative from SUNY Niagara provided an informative session on financial aid and the application process. Additionally, Booker College Planning is collaborating with 12th-grade students to create professional resumes for upcoming internship opportunities in the spring and summer. A special thank you goes to our business partners for offering valuable feedback and conducting mock interviews to help students enhance their skills. At the end of January, students will participate in two OSHA 10 certification training sessions, equipping them with an important credential that will give them a competitive edge in their chosen fields.
SUNY Niagara Tech Wars
On Wednesday, January 8, the NFHS Wolverine Robotics team and robotics classes participated in Tech Wars 2025 at SUNY Niagara. This exciting event brought together 40 teams from schools across Niagara and Erie counties to compete in various challenges. NFHS had an impressive showing, with two teams earning 1st and 2nd place honors! Both winning teams included talented PTECH students, showcasing their skills and dedication to excellence.
Booker College Planning Schedule
An updated email with new dates for Booker College Planning sessions for all grade levels will be sent out soon. Each cohort's sessions have been enhanced and improved to provide greater value. These updates will include both group sessions held at school and personalized one-on-one sessions. Keep an eye on your inbox in the coming weeks for more details!
